Professional Experience
Since completing my BSc. in Computer & Software Engineering @ Athlone Institute of Technology in 2002 I have worked as a C#.NET developer and web designer. Initially I spent 2 years developing mobile applications with Qubos before setting up my own internet advertising company which kept me out of trouble for a few years until my return to college in 2009. In 2010 I added a higher diploma in Software Design & Development from NUI Galway to my CV...

PhD
I am now in the second year of my Energy Informatics PhD. My most recent paper is entitled: "An Energy Efficiency Metric to Report the Cost of Data Centre Services to Consumers in Real-Time". My research also involves a programming collaboration with the Green & Sustainable IT UNIT (DGSIT) in DERI.

I am a member of the European Alliance for Innovation. I have recently redesigned the NUI Galway Civil Engineering website and the new NUI Galway Energy Night website (of which I am also webmaster). I supervise postgraduate labs and occasionally write code for off-campus companies on a freelance basis. I also tutor @ the Programming Drop In Support Centre in NUI Galway known as DISC...

Music
I play guitar - gigging a covers set most weekends around the midlands and here in Galway, where I currently live while at college. My blue-laquered alto saxophone gets a run out every so often - but mostly only at home these days. My current favourite bands / artists are: Elbow, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and the very talented Ed Sheeran. Clapton, Knopfler, R.E.M and The Eagles are my blue chips...

Rugby
In the past I have played outhalf for Blackrock, Longford & Buccaneers and still maintain my 'non-player' memberships - in case the damage to my dodgy left knee can be reversed with some miraculous surgery not yet invented...

Reading
I have read every John Grisham to date and check Easons on a regular basis for his next offering. Between Grishams I am making my way through a list of 'must reads'. Joseph Heller's Catch 22 has just been added to the 'reddit' pile. Jo Nesbo is my new 'favourite' author...

Scanners 3.0

Scanners is a simple 'PacMan-esque' game I am developing using C#. This is version 3.0.

If you are on a Windows machine and have the latest version of the .NET framework installed you can download and play Scanners 3.0 for FREE by clicking on the 'Play Now' arrow. Instructions are available in-game or here.

PS: If you come across any bugs in the game I would appreciate a quick email: scoooby@campus.ie - thanks!

PPS: Apologies to my many friends who prefer to play with penguins - here is a consolation prize.

PPPS: ScoobySoft does not accept responsibility for any incidents of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) suffered while playing Scanners 3.0 -  the 'Pause' button has been provided so that you can take a break when your poor little digits start to stiffen up :-P

PPPPS: Enjoy Scanners 3.0 responsibly ;)
